Maas spent nine of his ten years in the NFL with the Chiefs (1984-1992), participating in 116 games and achieving 111 starts, the highest for any nose tackle in franchise history. He played a pivotal role in leading the Chiefs to the playoffs in 1986, 1990, 1991, and 1992. His accolades include selections to the PFW/PFWA All-Rookie Team and the Defensive Rookie of the Year award in 1984, thanks to an impressive 43 tackles (29 solo), 5.0 sacks, and four passes defensed. Over his career, Maas became a two-time NFL Pro Bowler (1986-87) and accumulated a career total of 409 tackles (261 solo), 40.0 sacks, 13 passes defensed, and eight fumble recoveries, including one season with the Green Bay Packers in 1993.
