Chiefs Rally for First Win of 2025 Season 🎉

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Kansas City Chiefs may have faced some early struggles, but they ultimately claimed victory for the first time this season against the New York Giants during Sunday Night Football at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey.

Coming out for the second half, Kansas City quickly moved 74 yards on 11 plays, resulting in a much-needed touchdown from Mahomes to Thornton — marking Thornton's second touchdown in as many games.

“We just had to fix a few things,” Mahomes stated, concluding with a performance of 22 completions on 37 attempts for 224 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions. “We’re getting the drives going, but we need to convert those into touchdowns.”

Mahomes had an eventful first half, completing 12 of 21 passes for 100 yards in a game that featured intense discussions between Reid and tight end Travis Kelce. Tensions rose when Kelce expressed frustration, and Reid responded with a gentle bump, a sight that's become familiar.

Reid commented, “He’s an emotional guy... He brings the energy we need.” He brushed off the sideline incident, stating it was all part of the game’s passion.

Kicker Harrison Butker nailed two long field goals of 54 and 48 yards to begin the game, but he missed a 40-yard attempt in the second quarter, continuing a troubling trend with at least one missed kick in each of this season's first three games. Butker faced further scrutiny after pulling a long extra point attempt wide left, exacerbated by a personal foul penalty on Kareem Hunt following a touchdown run.
